the down key or "a" on xbox doesn't work in the levels but does work in the menus.

I'm not able to replicate that on my end. What platform (pc, mac, linux) and is it from steam or itch? Is it also doing this on keyboard too? Have you checked the controls setting in game or on steam control mapping to make sure something wasn't rebound?

Im on windows (steam) and yeah the problem happens on keyboard and controller. I've tried resetting the keybinds to default ingame but that hasn't helped.

Korbyn Hunter: Might be a corrupted binds.ini file. Try deleting your binds.ini file (the game will make a new one). you can find it here:
Windows: %appdata%\Godot\app_userdata\Beat Banger\binds.ini
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Godot/app_userdata/Beat Banger/binds.ini
Linux/Steam Deck: ~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Beat Banger/binds.ini
